MUSIC OF DAVID MASLANKA

MATTHEW M. MARSIT conductor

In Memoriam
Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Ensemble
with soloist Aadam Barclay ‘16

Wind Ensemble Symphony No. 8

Over the past four decades, this prolific American composer has provided wind ensembles with emotionally and intellectually rich new music, with contemporary harmonies and rhythms as well as gorgeous melodies, and linked to Baroque and classic traditions. Along with a concerto featuring a superb student soloist, the program includes a symphony of hope and joy in the face of challenging global realities, and an overture based upon the music of J.S. Bach.

Pre-concert talk with David Maslanka at 1 pm, Spaulding Auditorium
