The Hop’s resident orchestra performs Symphony No. 9, Beethoven’s glorious and jubilant testament to the human spirit, with a brooding power that culminates in the exultant Ode to Joy—sung by the Hop’s two classical choruses. That selection is paired with a Sibelius work in, as its title indicates, a Romantic vein and a Strauss opera overture full of sweet melodies, bouncy rhythms and thrilling orchestral sound.
