Co-founded by American sound artist and guqin (zither) player Jeff Roberts and the musician Gamin, one of today’s most celebrated players of the oboe-like Korean piri, PAN brings together masters of some of East Asia’s most expressive traditional instruments to improvise music spanning boundaries of culture, tonality and history. With Korean percussionist Woonjung Sim, Taiwanese erhu (spike fiddle) player Ying-chieh Wang and Japanese flutist and taiko drummer Kaoru Watanabe, PAN kicks off its US tour at the Hop.
