Yale Daily News: Ash Fure's Installation 'Immersive,' 'Visceral'

In October, Associate Professor Ash Fure presented ANIMAL: A Listening Gym, a week-long interactice performance installation at the Yale Schwarzman Center that impressed the arts desk at Yale Daily News. Fusing installation and live performance, ANIMAL presented a gym-style circuit of sonic machines that engage visitors as physical, sensory, "animalistic" participants, triggering sounds from Fure's solo work ANIMAL: for sound and light as they "work out." The result, the YDN reviewer reports, was an "immersive experience that blurred the boundaries between sound art, physical engagement and live musical performance."

ANIMAL: A Listening Gym ran at the Yale Schwarzman Center from Oct. 21 through Oct. 28. You can read the full review here.
