In the latest record release from Professor Sally Pinkas, the pianist joins with the Apple Hill String Quartet for performances of piano quintets by César Franck and Frank Bridge. The album, which was released on the MSR Classics label, continues years of in-concert collaboration between Pinkas and the N.H.-based quartet and is their debut recording as a quintet. On the record, Pinkas and Apple Hill pair two works for piano and strings: César Franck's Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 14, composed in 1879 ("darkly dramatic" and "the masterwork of a composer at the height of his power," per the liner notes), and the Piano Quintet in D minor, H.49, by English composer Frank Bridge.
