Boston Globe, Cranston Herald Praise Alvarez's 'NOISE'

Theater critic Don Fowler, for the Cranston Herald (Rhode Island), commended Providence-based Wilbury Theatre Group's "rousing" ongoing production of NOISE by Assistant Professor César Alvarez. Writes Fowler, Alvarez's participatory musical "breaks all boundaries between actors and audience in a two-and-a-half-hour production that involves everyone in the building emotionally, intellectually and physically."

In doing so, Fowler writes, Alvarez "has cleverly succeeded in making the audience an important part of the production in a non-threatening way."

His advice to readers: "Go with an open mind. Be touched. Be inspired. Be hopeful."

In The Boston Globe, critic Bob Abelman calls the work "thought-provoking," describing the musical as a "blindly optimistic, brazenly experimental pipe dream project from a young artist with a sharp and curious mind."
