Fall 2024: Coast Jazz Orchestra

In the tradition of big bands in small clubs, like the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra at the Village Vanguard or the Sun Ra Arkestra at Slug's, the full Coast Jazz Orchestra moves into Sawtooth for a weekend of music, two sets a night over two nights.

The band will be performing selections from the Coast songbook project: presenting creative music by previous Coast guests rarely performed by any other college jazz orchestra in the country, including music by Carla Bley, Kris Davis, Joseph Daley, Tomas Fujiwara, Mary Halvorson, Jim Hobbs, Bill Lowe, Angela Morris, Sun Ra, Tomeka Reid, Anna Webber and original compositions and arrangements by former and current Coast students.
