Andrew Jones, MoFi Electronics, will explore a wide range of critical issues that arise during the speaker design process.
Mr. Jones will provide valuable insights into potential challenges and pitfalls, offering practical solutions based on both scientific measurement and subjective evaluation.
Through a combination of theoretical explanations and real-world examples, Mr. Jones will illuminate the delicate balance between scientific principles and the subjective art of crafting a speaker that delivers exceptional sound quality. He will demonstrate how objective measurements and subjective listening experiences can be harmonized to achieve optimal results.
BIO
Andrew's passion for audio began in his early teens, focusing on loudspeakers. He studied Physics at Surrey University, specializing in acoustics, followed by postgraduate research at Essex University in crossover design and active noise cancellation.
In 1983, he joined KEF, initially in research, later becoming Chief Engineer and working extensively with concentric driver technology. After 11 years, he moved to the USA to work for Infinity at Floyd Toole's invitation. Three years later, he joined Pioneer, leading
a speaker development team for 17 years. During this time, he instigated TAD Home Audio and developed the first beryllium concentric driver. His work at Pioneer spanned a wide price range of speakers, with one set becoming a best-seller in the USA.
In 2015, he helped start the North American division of ELAC as V.P. of Engineering, focusing on affordable, high-performance speakers. In 2021, he joined MoFi Electronics to design a new line of loudspeakers, launched in November 2022. His products have
received many accolades.
A documentary about his life and career is due for release in 2025. His career in audio and speakers spans six decades.
