Assistant Professor Richard Beaudoin recently published "Micro-temporal Measurements of Two Early Debussy Recordings as the Foundation for New Music," which appears as Chapter 6 in Early Sound Recordings: Academic Research and Practice, edited by Eva Moreda Rodriguez and Inja Stanović (Routledge, 2023).
Professor Beaudoin's chapter synthesizes his interests in microtiming (which he teaches in MUS 99), musical borrowing (which he teaches in MUS 3.02), and the music of Claude Debussy (which he teaches in MUS 41.01) in an illuminating and richly illustrated discussion of his compositional process.
The complete edited volume is available through the Dartmouth Library and can be purchased through Routledge.
