On January 25 and 26, erhu player Hong Wang and the New West Symphony will present the world premiere of the newest work by Professor Kui Dong. Resonating Lands, a concerto for the traditional Chinese spike fiddle and Western orchestra, will feature Wang's erhu (specifically, a newly invented version called liquanqin that Wang champions) and the composer herself on the piano with music director Michael Christie conducting the California-based orchestra.
Resonating Lands receives its first performances on January 25 at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks, Cal., and January 26 at the Rancho Campana Performing Arts Center in Camarillo.
